Amelia Otherwhere and Other Such Nonsense

I stand at the door and look in at the bear. He is in anguish. He is angry. He wants out. I am trepidatious but intrigued. Shall I fight the guard and let him out? Will he eat me alive? Will he run off and hide? Will he be tame? Is it the injustice of being behind bars, locked away, that makes him angry. Maybe he just wants to be known. Maybe he must be known.

I look in through the bars, nervous and afraid, yet very tempted to swing wide open that door...
